Rhode Island Man Nabs 75-Pound Striper, Shatters State Record

Don Smith was fishing in the Block Island Volunteer Firefighters Tournament off 'The Block', when the fish of a lifetime clamped on to Vican's eel.
Much to the pair's surprise, on the other end of the line waited a 75 pound, 4 ounce striped bass. The catch shattered the old Rhode Island record by a whopping five pounds. It also came within 3 pounds, 4 ounces of a world record.
